Israel’s deliverance from bondage preceded the commandments. ”I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me” Ex 20:2-3 (NASB). Jesus, by the cross, became our Exodus, freeing us to obey. We love Him for the rescue He has accomplished. We love to keep His commandments and put His teachings into practice. This is the mark of freed slaves.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments”. John 14:15
