We are instructed as disciples to pray at all times and about everything.  “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:18a ESV). Is that a command or an invitation?  It is a job or joy?  Is it drudgery or delight?  Prayer is certainly a discipline.  Every prayer is not a moment of glory.  To speak with the King is a great pleasure; to enter into the councils of the Holy Trinity is an amazing privilege.  In prayer, you are invited to blessed fellowship with the divine.  It is an invitation to communion, assurance, and peace.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7 ESV).
