“Until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13 NRSV). God designs that we come to maturity along with our brothers and sisters in the church. The gifts are for the growth of the body unit and for its unity. Christlikeness is to be the main outcome of body life. We come together to it and for it. Pure individualism will not get us there. We need each other to arrive at this maturity; we need the whole body to look like Jesus.
