There is a collective comprehension that can be found only in the congregation of believers. Consider these words, “…May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:18-19 NASB). We know better together than we can know individually. The church is the school of the Spirit. He is the Spirit of our Teacher; He is the Spirit of Truth Who makes truth clear. Private interpretations can get us away from the truths that the church has always believed (2 Peter 1:20). The Spirit working in the body is essential for a knowing “which surpasses knowledge”.
