God is active in us doing His saving work. We are called to cooperate with God’s inner work by working out what He works within us. Our deliverance is not independent of our choices. Our choices are not predestined, they are real choices. We can resist His grace within us or we can work with Him in what He is doing in our lives. The mark of the true disciple is that we yield our way to His way; we work with Him and not against Him.
“So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13 (NASB)
