Pentecost Countdown: 10 days until Pentecost. {Note: Today is Ascension Day, when the Son who had descended into our world ascended back to His Father. Today Christians all over the world begin a ten day countdown to Pentecost. Come with me and let us see what we can learn about the nature and work of the Holy Spirit as the promised gift to those who obey our Lord (Acts 5:32).}
The ascending Christ commanded His followers to wait for the descending Spirit. The Spirit is the grand promise of the Father for Christ’s disciples. May we, His disciples, also be “clothed with power from on high” for our witness. It is power from the heavenly realm that enables us to live as He commanded us to live in the earthly realm. We need the Spirit as much as the first disciples did.
“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high” Luke 24:49. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” Acts 1:8.
