We may think that when the Holy Spirit fills us, it is only for our piety by sanctification. It is much more. It is to recruit us, to give us an assignment, to send us on a mission (Isa 6:8 and Acts 1:8). Sanctification is to banish our self-serving and to empower us for God’s service, for which the Spirit is gifting us. This power comes while on mission, and we are not always conscious of its energy. We may see what He did only in hindsight.
He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:7-8 (NASB)
