Attending church does not have the priority with many believers that it should have. The numbers show an alarming trend of neglecting the assembly of believers. Does it matter? Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” Matthew 18:20 (NKJV). That’s why it matters! Our privatization of spirituality is robbing us and leaves us spiritual paupers. We need the assembly of believers because Jesus shows up there. Thomas found that to be true the hard way.
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” John 20:24-25 (NASB)
