When the disciples walked with Jesus they say that He had real compassion for the people. He lived out the compassion, mercy, restorative justice and righteousness of the God of the Old Testament in His own person. Jesus preformed His miracles from a heart of compassion. He gave the disciples power to do these things as well when He sent them on His mission. They saw what Jesus did, and as His apprentices they went about to practice the same.
“For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help, The afflicted also, and him who has no helper. He will have compassion on the poor and needy, And the lives of the needy he will save. He will rescue their life from oppression and violence, And their blood will be precious in his sight.” Psalm 72:12-14 (NASB)
