On our electronic devices we have default settings that cause the computer to behave in ways based on these settings.  We also have default settings built into our personality by a lifetime of habits.  Sometimes our settings can be anger, reactive, unkind, or even nasty and cruel, etc.  The believer is in the process of changing the old default settings to Christlikeness.  These settings are the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23a).  The Spirit seeks our co-operation and we need to ask for His help.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” Galatians 5:22-23a (NASB).
