Immortality comes through Jesus and is not “automatic for everyone” as taught the Greeks; this idea is often assumed by well-meaning folks. Without Jesus there is no immortality. Life must come from Him whose name is Life. Immortality is a gift from the Risen Christ, who conquered Hades. He is the generator of Life and its sustainer. “It has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” (2 Timothy 1:10 NIV). Jesus destroyed death to make immortality even possible.
