“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)
We were on the outside looking in. We were walking in darkness and He called us out into His marvelous light. As God made a group of slaves His people, so He added Gentile believers to His people; we are now chosen with the chosen. He invited us aliens, foreigners, outsiders, and strangers to His table, not just for a meal, but to be joint heirs with our Lord and King. He made us citizens through Christ. We did not belong, now through Christ we belong. Go out and invite everyone to the same mercy and hospitality you have received. Welcome the unwelcome because your were welcomed.
