We do not always get to decide what to do based on a voice from God. Yet God expects us to make good decisions. It seems that God is into shaping character toward maturity. Character shapes decisions and decisions build character. In this regard, He then cannot tell us everything to do. He gave us the examples of OT and NT and foremost that of Christ Himself, the flowing love of the Spirit, and the overflowing grace of the Father as means of grace to make life’s decisions. It all calls for the use of our mind, examining the intent of our heart and checking out our motives. Character is shaped by that process.
