In a powerful quote Dallas Willard said, “Our goal is not to obey the teachings of Jesus. Our goal is to become the kind of persons that naturally obey the teachings of Jesus.” As believers we start out obeying His teachings because we want to follow Him. As we continue these disciplines, the Spirit of Jesus transforms us to a “new natural” to do the teachings of Jesus. The goal is character transformation, doing naturally the things Jesus taught us to do.
