In the NT all Christians are saints (“holy ones”).  We are called saints, and we are called to be saints.   This day celebrates saints living on earth and those who live in the presence of the Lord in heaven now.  The two groups are one body.  It also reminds us that Christians on earth are to live a life in the train and heritage of all the holy ones who have gone before us.  Father, thank you for all of Your saints that have influenced and shaped our lives.  We have been blessed by them.

“To all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 1:7 (NASB)
