The Suffering Servant is our sustainer; He is the God of All Comfort. The One wounded for us is our Healer. The One who cried out feeling forsaken is the One who said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” The One who was broken is the One who will make us whole. The Man of Sorrows has become our joy. He is our Advocate; He is our Intercessor. He who was crushed by His burden bears our burdens with us. He who cried alone is the One who cries with us, so that no one ever again would cry alone. He is God’s mystery revealed; shout it from the house tops. By His dying, He trampled down our death. He defeated our real enemies of sin and death so that we can fight the rest of the battle knowing the war has already been won. His triumph is secure, and in Him, so is ours. He rose first so that by His resurrection we all shall rise.
“But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Corinthians 15:20 (NIV)
