Pride loves crowns. Political leaders are reluctant to release their crowns. Religious leaders have sanctified theirs. Crowns show authority, position and attainment. We may want to think, “My crown is my own. I worked for it. I was elected to it. It is even because of my God-given gifts. It is certainly mine to wear.” But the remarkable thing about the heavenly realm is that all crowns are cast at the feet of the worthy Lamb. If we are to live “on earth as in heaven” we must humbly declare ourselves unworthy of crowns.
“The twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” Revelation 4:10-11 (NASB)
