Hateful speech. Name calling. Snarling words. Angry platitudes. Unkind remarks. Judgmental statements. None of these are to come from the lips of those who profess to be following the King of Peace. He died for all people. Where is the pity you have for the sinner, the great object of Christ’s love? Have you ever looked at the horror of your own sins in the face of a holy God? Does nothing trigger you to pray for the despicable? Has your heart not yet been converted to love? We, who claim Calvary, must understand what love did there, and practice it!
Lord, forgive us when we fail to show love and kindness even to those we deem to be the worst of sinners. May we see our sins as worse than theirs. May we understand how much we break Your heart when we fail to give unconditional love the way You gave us unconditional love. May we be a catalyst for unity, in the midst of warring factions! Amen!
