We can become involved in a kind of “busyness” that keeps us from more important tasks, yes, even in the church. We get preoccupied with the insignificant and miss the significant. Without priorities we will not get the consequential and essential things done. “Busyness” with the minor may make us feel good about our service, while we are neglecting the major. Meeting people needs should have priority over meeting institutional needs. Sitting at the feet of our Rabbi is more important than our daily to-do lists.
“And Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’” Luke 10:41-42 (NKJV)
