“You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5(NASB).  We are a spiritual house.  We are a holy priesthood serving in that house.  Priests offer sacrifices.  Jesus, the High Priest, offered up Himself.  We, His disciples, are to offer up ourselves to God as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1-2).  We offer our sacrifice in light of His sacrifice and through His sacrifice.  In this mystery we are, as Paul said, “Co-crucified with Christ” (Galatians 2:20).
