We brag about strength; we reward it in competition. We honor those with super strength and shame the super weak. Whoever got a trophy for being the weakest, and who would want it if it was offered? That is not what this world is about. Then there is this up-side-down way of thinking where you admit how weak you are. You know you are a weak mess, so you depend on the Lord. The power of Christ can never dwell in us in its fullness until we have abandoned and renounced our own power.
“I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9b-10 (NRSV)
