If our Christian life is driven by our emotions and how we feel, we will despair when we are faced with difficulty.  When we don’t feel like we should feel, we will think that God has let us down.  This makes our subjective feelings the barometer of our walk with God.  God does bless us, and often times we feel a great awareness of His wonderful presence.  But, we do not follow Him for these feelings, we follow Him because He is God’s promised Messiah.

“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence.” Psalms 42:5 (NASB)
