We have so much with which to entertain ourselves. Diversion has become a way of life. For many, leisure has become their highest goal. Then there are those who are wanting to escape life’s pain. They try to find ways to drown their pain. Though Jesus retreated to a quiet place for times of rest and renewal with His Father, He never tried to escape the pain of His life. Any kind of escapism that tries to create a new reality ends up in craziness. Take time to rest and renew, and then get back to being Christ’s hands and feet in the pain of this world.
