“Unto us a child is born” (Isaiah 9:6). Hope for the future was often awaiting a child to be born, one to grow up to become king. The world was waiting for a child that would take the reins of government, not just any child but one of the line of David. This child has come, He has already established His unending reign. Now our job is to pray and live, “thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.” Repent, that is, reorder your thoughts, words and actions with this new reality; the Kingdom is here because the Christ-child has arrived.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)
