There can be barriers in our life that keep us from receiving love. Self-sufficiency. Self-focus. Power and control. Other loves. Abuse. Rejection. It is possible for your little boat to be sailing on an ocean of love and not know it and be unwilling to receive it. The rich young ruler, having been personally embraced by the love of Jesus, walked away for something he loved more (Mark 10:21-22). The divine energy of love and grace flowing from God needs a receiving heart for love to lift and transform. Free will is a gift of free grace. Free grace can change the self-willed to pliable clay in the Master’s hand. He, whose name is Love, is always patiently waiting for a willing response.
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:16,19 (NIV)
