“Then He said, ‘Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground’” (Ex 3:5 NASB). There is to be nothing between God and us when touching the Holy. Nothing man-made between us and Him. Nothing dead (leather) between the Living God and us. Naked feet were required of Moses to approach Him. Vulnerable! No pretense! No barrier! Nothing keeping bare feet from feeling holy sand and being brought to awe in the presence of the Holy One!
