Solomon did not ask for “riches, possessions, and honor”, instead he asked for, and received, wisdom; because he asked for wisdom, God also gave him “riches, possessions, and honor” (2 Chronicles 1:12). We ask for lots of things. God is not a genie with a bottle; though many would like that. We are often amiss in our asking. Our asking will always be corrupted by our own inner twist. In the NT, Jesus is the highest point of asking and the ultimate Gift to be received. He is the Cosmic Christ who existed with the Father before all things. The universe was made for Him and by Him. He came to us to redeem, restore and renew. He fills all things, even us if we ask. Ask for nothing less than Jesus. In Him is everything we need.
“Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30 ESV).
