The tense “Go” of “Go therefore and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19) is literally “As your are going” into all the world make disciples.  This anticipates the dispersion caused by persecution that would send the apostles around the world.  The idea is “as you are going” and “wherever you go” make disciples.  We hear the Great Commission as given to those who have a specific call, but what is really being said, “as you live your life, wherever you are and wherever you go make disciples.”  We are often scattered because of jobs in our mobile society.  The call is to make disciples wherever your vocation takes you; find a way to make apprentices of Jesus in that place.

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB)
