The resurrection appearances of Jesus, over a 40-day period, were demonstrations of grace. It is the same grace as the cross. He appeared to the very ones who forsook Him and denied Him. He did not abandon those who had abandoned Him. The presence of our Lord is a gift of grace and a manifestation of His love in our lives. Oh how grateful I am that He comes to me, the unworthy one. We let Him down, but He never lets us down.
“So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord” John 20:19-20 (NASB).
