Moses made a trade that most folks would not make. He traded pleasure for oppression and suffering. He rejected the pleasure benefits that could have been his; he moved from alignment with a world power to be identified with a band of slaves. In a pleasure-seeking culture such a choice seems crazy. Fleeting pleasures are often at the price of not being identified with the enslaved peoples of our world. Jesus came to suffer with the slaves and by suffering to free them.
“He (Moses) chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt.” Hebrews 11:25-26a (NLT)
