Cultivating a taste for God’s word can guard you against spiritual junk food. “Taste and see,” and you will find it good. His word is sometimes sweet to the taste. It is sometimes bitter to the taste and sweet to the stomach. It is bread to the mind and heart. It will sustain us for the long haul. Without it we famish. With it we are fully and adequately fed. Read it. Cherish it. It will guide you, help you, and renew you!
“He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 8:3 (NASB)
