The mission of the Messiah is the conquest of the whole earth. Israel’s King is the King of the world. He is Lord of all. He will not stop until all evil is banished from his entire creation and the “righteousness of the Lord covers the earth as the waters cover the sea.” The earth will be taken back from the powers of darkness and evil. The prophet Zechariah tells us that this is the ultimate meaning of Palm Sunday.
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey…And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.” Zechariah 9:9-10
