Advent Glimpses of our Future
Throughout history nations have spent astronomical amounts on building weapons to kill their enemies; the economies of nations depend on what President Eisenhower called, “The Military-Industrial Complex”. Men live by the violence of war to gain for themselves more and more; death and destruction thrive in the wake of war. When Messiah comes to this earth all of those weapons of death will be melted into tools for tilling the ground. Studying war and military strategies on how best to surprise, outflank and kill other people will be replaced by better ways to spread unconditional love to folks whose culture is different from our own. Start practicing.
“He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.” Isaiah 2:4-5 (NIV)
