“No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier” (2 Timothy 2:4 NASB). We are in active service for Jesus and His message; convey no other message that competes with that one. We are under marching orders for His kingdom; let no other kingdom eclipse that. We have left all to follow Jesus; let no other mission turn you aside. We must unentangle ourselves from what is consuming this world; we even have to unentangle Jesus from being used to sanctify men’s agendas and their craving for power. Stay in His active service. You are never released from that; some have gone AWOL (Absent without leave) having embraced the world’s way of doing. Our goal is to please Jesus, the One who enlisted us, no one else. Oh, that we will be able to give a good final report to our Supreme Commander.
