Some houses are welcoming and inclusive to all; some shut others out as not worthy. God looked down and envisioned a hospitality house where strangers and aliens could come into the house as full-fledged family members. This is what the church is supposed to be. This is the kind of house where God will dwell. The unwelcoming house for the stranger cannot welcome the Lord either. In a welcoming church you will find God’s Spirit dwelling there in full fellowship with the people. The other kind of church only offers fellowship with each other.
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.” Ephesians 2:19-22 (NRSV)
