I am trying to let this truth get hold of me: “The anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you.” The early Christians went out without a New Testament and turned the world upside down. The glimpses of Christ in the Hebrew Scriptures became a clear revelation with this new anointing. They sat in house churches, prayed and fasted, fellowshipped and feasted and heard from Jesus. Jesus inside them was their anointing. He taught them how to do and be in the world. They confronted false teachings with authority and grace. The anointing gave them a message and the power with which to proclaim it. Lord, give us this kind of listening intimacy and anointing with our Teacher. Amen!
