We do not have to split perfectly all the theological hairs to be a faithful follower of Jesus. Theology is “words about God”. His infinite greatness is more that we can get our minds around. The best of theologians disagree with each other. Yes, the orthodoxy that has been handed down to us is very important. Yes, right doctrine should guide right practice. But having said this, there is something to be said for the truth we learn when simply following the Man who wore the seamless robe. Following Him does not require a degree in theology. Following Him faithfully and trusting Him completely will help us understand Him more accurately.
Jesus, forgive us for thinking that we could not follow You because our knowledge of You was so inadequate. May we relearn that simple obedience is the core of discipleship!
