Psalm 90 is breathtaking in its beauty. In it the shortness our days are contrasted to our God, who is from “everlasting to everlasting” (v. 2). We may make it to 70 or 80, and then we are gone (v. 10). Like withered grass (v.5), even dust calls us back (v.3), but as for our God, a thousand years is just like yesterday(v. 4). Look at it one way, and you despair. Look at it another way, and there is hope. Some day we will stand before our God. “So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom” (v. 10, NASB). On that day, may we present to Him what we have become as an act of worship.
