To some degree, Christians are called to explore the heart of Jesus.  Oswald J. Smith wrote, “Into the heart of Jesus, deeper and deeper I go.”  This is a yearning for a deeper acquaintance with Jesus, a more profound understanding of Him.  Of course, we can never plumb all of His depths.  But if we would begin the quest, it would save us from the Jesus we control, the One who is there to sanction all we do and prefer.  When we free Him to be who He really is, it will free us to be all we were meant to be.  Oh, that I might know Him! (Philippians 3:10-11).
