If we want to be spiritual so people will look up to us as “truly spiritual,” we have missed the mark and have fallen into egoism.  We dare not become worshipers of our own spirituality and thus fall into idolatry.  Our goal is to be with the Lord and to be like Him.  With Him as our goal and center it keeps us from stepping into His place.  “Spiritual” is a by-product of a sincere and humble relationship with God’s Spirit.

“And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt” Luke 18:9 (NASB).
