There is truth that is arrived at through logical deduction.  There is also revealed truth.  These two exist side by side in Christian thought.  A group of politically hopeful messianic disciples had their hopes dashed.  Their would-be Messiah got Himself killed.  Their dashed hopes turned out to be their real hope.  To their amazement He appeared to them multiple times in a resurrected body.  This revealed truth of resurrection turned their world upside down as it did the rest of the world.  Their witness was that this was indeed the Messiah of the whole world.  This revealed truth was preached wherever they went as the good news.

“Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven” (Mt 16:17).
