Father, we have neglected the proper care of our body which is not our own, but Your temple.  We have become undisciplined by overeating and have forgotten Your command of temperance.  You have “richly supplied us with all things to enjoy” (I Tim 6:17) and for our health, but we have sadly misused these gifts by intemperance.  We have allowed our appetites to control us.  Teach us how to retrain ourselves in our eating for Your glory.  Amen!

“But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites.”  Philippians 3:19 (MSG)
