Early on in Jesus’ ministry He took on demonic powers.  He cast out many demons (Mark 1:34).  On the cross, the heel of the Son was firmly placed on the head of the serpent (Gen 3:15).  “When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him” Col 2:15 (NASB).  We too confront dark powers that war against the people of God.  We do not need to be afraid.  “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 Jn 4:4).

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” Ephesians 6:12 (NLT).
