The church is beyond local; it is global.  It is not limited to one language; it is not limited to one ethnic group.  It is catholic (i.e. universal).  This is why we recite, “I believe in the holy catholic church”.  We have made the church all about us; we have become provincial and national in our understanding of it.  We even see the fulfillment of prophecy in terms of our nation.  We believe that our political brand is synonymous with Christ’s church.  “There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:4–6 ESV).  The church is bigger than my pew, my congregation, and my denomination.  It is universal!  Embrace it.

“I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.”  John 10:16 (NASB)
