God dwells in our spirit, but He is not our spirit.  He is in us, but distinct from us.  We must understand this when we talk about the “God within us”.  We will not become God, but we dwell with Him and He with us.  It was the tempter who said, “Ye shall become as gods.”  We are not gods in some innate or pantheistic way.  We bow before Him, even the One who is above us, by us and in us.  We find meaning in Him and not in our so called “god-ness”.  Man gets crazy when he becomes his own god.

“To you it was shown that you might know that the LORD, He is God; there is no other besides Him.” Deut 4:35 (NASB)
