We really do know how to turn the conversation back to ourselves.  We know how to get our opinions and preferences into the discussion.  In short, we know how to make a lot of things about us.  There is something else we need to learn.  We need to learn how to listen, how to be truly interested in others and their opinions, and how to turn the conversation to the concerns of others.  When we learn this, we will learn one of the secrets of ministry that can result in the health and healing of the other person.

“Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4 (NRSV)
