Those in recovery teach us that recovery is not “from something”, but it is “from us.”  The problem lies not with the addiction but with the unhealthiness that has developed in the addict.  The hooked must deal with the inner hooks and false realities that paved the way for addiction. Taking responsibility for who you are and your choices is the first step in turning around.  Grace starts with who you really are. There transformation begins.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)
