Israel’s mission was to be a “kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6).  The vision of the Kingdom of God is that it is a Kingdom of priests.  As priests, we pray with our High Priest.  Jesus is both King and Priest.  We are one with Him in that, and we serve with Him in that.  It is a part of Christlikeness that is not on our radar.  We participate with Him in His priestly work of healing, prayer and reconciliation.

“To him who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us to be a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelation 1:5b-6 (NRSV)…“They sing a new song: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation; you have made them to be a kingdom and priests serving our God, and they will reign on earth’” Revelation 5:9-10 (NRSV).
