Evil and suffering are not inherently meaningful.  Chronic illness and chronic pain declares that well.  Rampant evil in the world illustrates it.  In itself, it has no meaning.  We do find meaning in the sufferings of our Messiah.  He came and let evil do its worst to Him, and yet He triumphed over it.  In this, He has shown us the way out.  We do not find meaning in the random evil that tramples the innocent.  But we do find meaning in the fact that Christ triumphed over it and teaches us how we too can do it by the cross.

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” Hebrews 2:9 (NKJV)
