Without self-denial there is no generosity.  “Everything is mine.  It is my time, my money and my stuff.  Get away and leave it alone.”  That’s sad!  To live generously is to be like God.  He gives light, life, mercy, grace, a creation of beauty, rain and sunshine for the just and unjust.  God’s generosity expresses His love, and it is unconditional to both saints and sinners.  Deny your ultimate claim to yourself and your stuff and be generous like your Father.

“Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed” 1 Timothy 6:18-19 (NASB).
